When one is strapped for cash often they resort to desperate measures. Annelise found herself becoming one of those people.
The first logical idea was to get a job. But she had no work experience and was pretty much useless at cooking so most fast food jobs were gone. And what if someone yelled at her for getting their order wrong? She couldn’t handle the pressure. Annie thought working in one of those maid cafes would be fun but she spoke no Japanese and she was too clumsy. More excuses and reasons piled onto until getting a part time job was completely scratched off the list.
But she needed money, and fast. Japan was the holy ground of games and there were so many she needed to buy but not enough cash. And the collector’s editions! Oh the collector’s editions!
She was thinking of calling her boss and asking to him to wire some money but she was no longer a nations. Which also meant asking Denmark to give her some cash was also no longer a viable route of income. Maybe if she cried just a little... no, he was probably not doing so well for cash if he found a place that would sell him beer.
There must be another way! And then this is where she started to become desperate. There had to be a way to acquire her games! She started looking through school things. Perhaps her mental health was in danger and they would buy them for her. And there she found her salvation.
A club.
Sometimes the best ideas are borne from being desperate. She would make a club because each club received a large sum of money for club activities and materials. This could work! If she made a games club buying games would be club materials. Hell, she could use her club money to raise money to buy more video games. This was a genius plan if she did say so herself.
Until she found that you needed a minimum of 5 people per club. She needed more people! There must be others who wanted video games and such as bad as her. After talking with a student advisor she found she was allowed to join the club sign up day and if she could get people her club would become official.
That night she made an awesome sign proudly displaying the horrible name she came up with. The Tech and Animation club! This was what video games really were after all. She made up a sign up sheet and even made a hoodie for the club! More money to buy more things for her!
The next day on club sign up day she proudly set up her booth until she noticed how flashy everyone else’s was. Damn it, she knew she should have used sparkles! Nervously, Annie sat at her booth, fearing the worse. She had already picked out so many games she wanted to buy, what if no one joined!? She tried to flash smiles at people who walked by but she probably looked more like a nervous wreck who thought she was going to be shot at any moment.
Slowly she sunk deeper and deeper into the safety of her sweater and looked sadly at all the other clubs getting new members. So much for great ideas...
(OOC:So this is the Techie's group, feel free to make your own club and join in this! ONE MASS RP THREAD)

Eduard held his messenger bag close to his hip, protecting the laptop inside. Moving through the crowds that had formed in the hall to see all the club booths was dangerous enough, he didn’t need to have some incautious little kid to damage his only comfort. Well, only comfort so far. He hadn’t managed to meet up with any of the other Baltics or Russia, though he was pretty sure they’d ended up here too.
Scanning the signs, Eduard sighed. It looked like there was a club for all the boring things that school kids liked; football, American football, tennis, dance, cheer, drama. Nothing he would be interested in. Where were the computer clubs? The gaming ones even? There had to be something! Maybe a book club? He would be happy if he had someone to discuss this or that book with.
Then, as if a god somewhere was taking pity on him, Eduard spotted a tiny booth in between another two. They were super flashy, so the plain booth stood out to him. The Tech and Animation Club was hand written across the sign, though it looked like it should really have had some glittery circuits or something painted onto it as well.
He made sure the messenger bag was securely at his side and set out to push through the crowd. It might be plain, but that sign represented a little slice of happiness to him right then. In the row of jock, prep, or even heavy metal themed booths was his salvation.
Or he hoped it would be his salvation. It would be terrible if it turned out to be one of those clubs that only met once and then fizzled out of existence. Kind of like the collective Baltic backbone whenever Russia was around.
Finally busting through the people, Eduard clutched his bag to his chest and stared at the person behind the booth. She was pretty in that European kind of way, definitely more appealing than half the girls he’d seen in the halls. “Excuse me, what is this club about exactly. Your name is a little vague…” He smiled and clutched the laptop-holding bag tighter. Oh god please be a club about computers and gaming and not another one of those art clubs geared toward Japanese Animation!

She was going to pack it in soon. This was kind of humiliating. All the work she put in it and no one wanted to join. Not even those over achievers that join everything to look good. Nobody.
Maybe she should have worn skimpy clothes or something along those lines like the other girls manning booths. The choir club, really? Did they need skirts that short to sing?! It was a little ridiculous.
Just when she was about to pack her things she saw someone making their way over. Glasses, a messenger bag much like her own.. could it be? And he stopped in front of her booth! She was so happy she could have died. Annie listened to him with tear filled eyes. She was half ready to change her club to whatever he wanted. And he was kind of cute too, wait, he asked a question so she had to answer. Oh man he’s going to think she’s slow!
“Th-This is the Tech and Animation club. S-so things like, cameras, computers, movies, video games, all that good stuff. Although it’s pr-probably going to be a lot of video games. It’s like a club that you can come to, play some video games, talk about hacks and cheats and meet new fr-friends.” That seemed like a good description, even if it was long winded and she sounded a little desperate. “I’m Annelise Eiriksen, Greenland. You can call me Annie if you want.”
Annelise tucked her hair behind her ears in a nervous gesture. “It’s not really an anime club, but if-if that’s what you’re into that’s fine with me. I j-just really want people to join so I’m ready to cater if it falls under tech and animation.” She took a deep breath and smiled at him. “Sorry, I’m not trying to pressure you into joining. I s-sound really nervous too don’t I? I’ve been practicing what I-I was going to say to people.”

Eduard relaxed a little at her stuttering, wanting to put her at ease. So many people got frightened when they talked to him because of the threat of Russia just popping up out of nowhere that he’d gotten good at calming them down. Well, calming them down or making them get what they needed to say out quickly so he could move on.
It was a little awkward how relieved she seemed to be that he’d come up to her booth though. He was kind of regretting it. Hopefully she didn’t end up attaching herself to him because he’d talked to her about her club. He had enough of clingy girls with Belarus and Russia.
“This club isn’t about anime?” He smiled a little as he heard this and pulled a pen out of his breast pocket. “If I sign up you won’t suddenly change it will you? Nothing against Japan, but I don’t want to join a club that says its about computers and other technical things that ends up becoming only about Japanese Animation.”
Blinking as he listened to her nervous rambling, Eduard shook his head. “It’s okay, your speech was very concise, even if you sound nervous about it.” He rolled his shoulders and let the bag settled at his hip again rather than against his chest. “It sounds like the kind of club I would enjoy, where do I sign?” He held up his pen to show her he really did mean to sign up.
Then the fact that she’d introduced herself managed to penetrate through the small joy he felt at finding a club he liked. “Oh, I’m sorry. I should have introduced myself before asking questions. My name is Eduard von Bock, Estonia.” If they hadn’t had a table between them he would have kissed the back of her hand like a proper gentleman, but there was so he settled for giving her a wider smile than the one he usually wore. “Please feel free to call me Eduard.”

She shakes her head quickly. “No, the club won’t change. I’m not a huge anime fan. Video games are m-my thing.” Annie saw him pull out his pen and felt giddy inside. She tried to keep from looking too excited so she wouldn’t scare him off. The last thing she wanted to do was chase off a potential club mate or friend. “This club is exactly what t-the sign says. I promise.”
Annie smiled at him when he said her speech was okay, slowly feeling more comfortable around him. He was too intimidating to her, but she was sure once she stood up she’s probably be nervous again since she’s so short. “Oh, the s-sign-up sheet!” She grabs it from her bag, putting it on the table and sliding it over. “I-I just need your name and email on the sheet. It’ll only be used to send you club updates, i-if I can actually form the club. I won’t sp-spam you or email you for anything else.” She didn’t want him thinking she was unprofessional.
“Alright, I’ll call you Eduard.” Wait, Estonia? Wasn’t that next to her ‘uncle’? She tilted her head, looking at him more intently. She knew she recognized his face a little. “Oh, you know Finland! That’s where I recognize you from! You wouldn’t recognize me since I looked a lot younger. If we’re stuck being humans hopefully I’ll get to look a little older.” Always the optimist when it came to situations like this.
She smiles brightly at him, feeling comfortable since she knows him. “If the club gets formed we’ll get a club room that will have tv’s and couches in it. If people have systems they want to donate that’s great, if not I’ll buy them with club money. Since you’re the first person to join, if you want of course, you can be vice president of the club and get a key too.” Oh no, didn’t that really sound like she was pressuring him? “That’s if y-you want, you don’t have to a-at all!”
She took a deep breath to calm herself. “Sorry, I’m rambling on again. Just signing up is good enough right now.” Wow, she was really embarrassing herself this time. Her face heated up slightly, shifting her gaze down to the table.

Post by Im Yong Soo on Apr 8, 2011 6:21:04 GMT -5
Yong Soo really had no means of entertaining himself, par his little hand-held games consoles which he snuck into class but he had already finished those games long ago so he couldn't help but feel a little bored of them.
At this moment he was playing one of his recently finished video games, Astonishia Story, and was fairly enjoying this replay. The story seemed to have changed slightly with the new character he had chosen.
Right now he just played and walked, letting his feel take him where they wanted to go. Outside at the pitches, the football astroturf, inside around the school hallways. Only until now he realised that he had walked into an extremely busy hall full of very loud students. "Wow this looks exciting! I wonder what is going on, da-ze!". Pausing his placement in the game Yong Soo wondered around the hall and took in what was going on before him. There were some stalls where people crowded around. Some of them had big flashy signs proclaiming what they were. "Choir Club!" "Music Club!" "Anime and Manga Club!" "Cosplay Club!" wow these clubs seemed to range from one thing to another.
There was one, however which seemed to catch his eye a little more than the others.
"The Tech and Animation Club"
It was a dinky little stall crammed between two larger ones. This one didn't seem to be getting as much attention as the others, which was a shame as it did look rather interesting! Only two people were at this little stall; the stall caretaker and club president obviously, and what looked like a pupil who was signing up to join this club. Now, the Korean was into technology and animating! He did make his own animes back home! And then he loved his computer and games! This was definitely the club for him!! He jogged up to the little stall, squeezing past everyone in his way and tripping over a few feet. Once he made it he beamed the young girl who ran the stall a smile.
"An nyong! I see that this is a Tech and Animation Club, ne?" he held up his PSP "I like technology and I have animated a few times, da-ze!"
Oh he hoped that he could join this club and have some fun!

Annelise jumped slightly in her seat when she saw someone tripping their way to her booth. They weren’t pranking her, were they? Hopefully it wasn’t some upperclassman coming to destroy it! When he smiled she smiled back nervously at him. Perhaps he was another potential member?!
“Y-Yes, this is the tech and an-animation club. If you like b-both you’re welcome t-to join.” She looks closely at his PSP. “What game is that?” She didn’t have a PSP so she was always curious about what other people were playing. She pointed to the sign up sheet Eduard had. “That’s the s-sign up sheet. I just n-need your name and email.”
She was starting to get more positive about it now. Three people were not the five she needed but it was a start! Maybe they could recommend people to her club too! Or get their friends! What if I got too big though? Then there would be less game time! She was sure that wouldn’t happen and if it did she’d pull out the ‘I’m the president’ card and play all she wanted.
“If you j-join we’ll have a club room, with c-computers and TV’s and v-video games!” Hopefully that was a great incentive for people to join. She knew if she heard that she would love to join. Free games and lots of them! She should have put that on the sign. There were a lot of things she was wishing she did with that sign.
She got up and dusted herself off, feeling like she should stand to attract more attention. Even though her skirt was a decent length and her shirt wasn’t too low cut she still felt a little uncomfortable. Maybe it was the huge height difference between all of them. The Nordic height was something that skipped her.
“I’m A-Annelise, you can call me Annie if you want. And y-you are?” She knew he was Asian but still she was hoping his name wasn’t too hard to say. She didn’t want to offend him by getting it wrong! That would be terrible if she lost a potential member and friend over miscommunication.

Quickly scribbling his name and e-mail down on the sheet, Eduard hummed a little. “I thought you looked familiar, but I wasn’t sure. I didn’t want to say anything and upset you if I was wrong.” He finished signing the sheet and slipped his pen back into his pocket. “How is he by the way? I haven’t seen him in a while, not since our last festival.”
He hoped, for her sake, that she would get to grow up some. Annie seemed very excited about the idea and he didn’t want her dreams to be crushed. Hearing that she would need consoles and games and didn’t even have a club room yet made him adjust his glasses thoughtfully. “I have a few consoles I wouldn’t mind sharing with the club, and some games. How many people would we need to be official?”
Eduard smiled at her, shaking his head. “I would love to be the vice-president Annie. You’ll just have to let me know what I need to do as vice-president.” He quieted as another boy stumbled up, this one Asian. He looked familiar to Eduard as well…
“Korea?” He was pretty sure it was Korea anyway. This guy looked less hard than the man who had been in Russia’s house briefly with China, but the features were the same. He held out the signup sheet for the other to sign, pulling his pen back out.
If he was going to be vice-president he should probably start with helping out at the booth. Annie looked like she might just flee the hall if she had to deal with everyone on her own for much longer. “We already have a PS2 and several games for it as well as an Xbox360: Live. If you sign up I’ll also help with your computer problems for free.”
Well, he was definitely invested in it now. But he kind of missed helping people fix their computers since he hadn’t heard anything about Chile being around in the school. This would be a nice way to do that and maybe make some friends.

She smiles brightly at him. There’s no way he could upset her! “I think he’s alright, I haven’t seen him lately.” After all, she was kind of removed from the rest of the Nordics, and Finland and she weren’t really that related. “I can tell him you’ve asked about him if you like.” Always the polite one, she thought it was like an important job to see the two friends reunited at school!
She had the club room already arranged; all she needed was the members. “We need 5 people total to make it official. I have the club room in the wings; all we need is the members. And the equipment. Donating would be amazing, but once everything is finalized we can purchase stuff. M-Maybe you and I could meet up... to talk about what we should buy. Maybe at the coffee shop or in one of our dorms…” Annie started to blush a little, what if he thought her motives were impure!?
When he accepted the vice president position she got very excited. “Th-Thank you! You’ll be a huge help to me!” And if they got to spend more time together the better. “Like I said, we can meet up sometime whenever you’re not busy...”
She watches him handle things with Korea with ease, amazed. She definitely made the right decision asking him to be vice president. Heck, he could take over for her! Which was tad worrying, she had never been in a position of power before, but she kind of liked it. But if Eduard was better than her at it she might have to hand over the reigns.
“Eduard! You really do have to offer incentives like that, I’m sure you’re busy enough as it is!” Him joining and becoming vp was enough for her, he didn’t have to give up his free time just so they could get more members! “I-I can umm... make you decorative items?”

He shifted the bag over his shoulder and glanced at the booths around them. “That’s okay, I’m sure I’ll run into him at some point.” He was in the same age group so they were bound to run into each other at some point. Maybe they would even have a few classes together? If all else failed he could find out the other boy’s schedule and stalk him a little. If he got desperate that was.
Humming a little, Eduard nodded. “Are there any good places to eat around here? I’m kind of new to this place so I haven’t really looked around.” He shrugged sheepishly, smiling in an apologetic way. “Coffee sounds like a good idea, so long as the place has wifi.” Eduard grinned, patting his bag. “Then we could even work on a website or news letter for the club. I bring my laptop with me everywhere, so we could even look up prices and possible places to get school discounts for games and consoles.”
“No, its fine!” He smiled at her, setting the sheet down when the other didn’t take it right away, his pen sitting next to the paper. “I really like getting to work on computers so I don’t mind offering my services to the club.” Just so long as there wasn’t any unidentified substances dried onto the computer. He’d had enough of that sort of thing to last a life time. Or several.
Another quick glance at the busy booths around them had him frowning a little. “Have you tried advertising or anything?” He motioned toward the more frequented booths. They had people with mini-flyers and the American Football club had several members in uniform tossing a ball back and forth. Maybe they could draw up a quick flyer and he could run down to the copy room? He definitely wouldn’t mind handing them out to passing people.

Yong Soo blinked then smiled at the blond girl. “Ohh my game? It’s currently Astonishia Story! It’s a cool fantasy RPG which originated from me!~” he shoved the PSP into his pocket and folded his arms across his chest. “Though, I play other games. I play a few FPS games, puzzle games, horrors…Oh! But I really love online games! I love to battle against others and go into teams, da-ze!~”
When he heard his name being spoken by the blond boy next to him, he turned. He saw him before at meetings…he was.. “You’re Estonia, ne? I’ve seen you around Russia and…” he grimaced “...my brother.” Oh man no doubt the Estonian knew about him because of his brother and his visits. But he should not think about that, he was signing up for a club! When he explained about already having a PS2 and an Xbox360 with Xbox Live, and that he would fix any computer problems for free Yong Soo grinned. “Oh wow really? I’m in!” he picked up the black ballpoint pen and intractably signed his name on the sheet, and jotted down his email.
“Are there any good places to eat around here?”
Ohh! Yong Soo knew of places he could go! And with wifi! He had been around the city a few times since arriving! “Oh! I know! There are a few noodle shops around the place which have wifi! And there is a nice little café nearby, you can’t miss it!”
Turning his attention back to the young girl he smiled, extending a hand. “Nice to meet you club president! I’m South Korea, but just call me Im Yong Soo! I’ll try anything to get the club going, da-ze!” he pondered. What could he do? “I could help with gaming! Like, give some tips at how to be a great online player…and since his place has animation I can help out there! I’ve helped out with some animes and movies!”
(Bah soooooo sorry for the wait guys! I’ve been busy and I’m going to be even busier over May so, I might not get the chance to post. Q A Q But don’t worry! I’ll be posting a lot after May! <3)
