ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
It's cold.
She sat in the small airport during the off season, which would be winter, waiting for the first flight of the week. Twice a week tourists may possibly get off those planes to come see her beautiful country. It was probably the two most exciting days of the week. She buried deeper in her outerwear as she waited impatiently for the plane to land. Her jacket was given to her by one of the elder women after she called her 'domestically challenged'. 'Why is it', she once asked, 'that you can help build a kayak but can't even make yourself a scarf?' She made her laugh though, so she didn't mind her teasing. And the elder chief overheard her and the next day he wordlessly presented her with a beautiful, long red scarf. Maybe that was why she was cold; her scarf wasn't on very well at all. Annelise wrapped it more firmly around her neck to keep away the bitter cold. She ignored the slight choking feeling for the better feeling of relief from the stinging wind that somehow filtered through the old building.
They could probably fix up the building this year, since the off season didn’t last as long anymore. It definitely needed a new coat of paint. Maybe bright green, so there was at least something green when people arrived. She always felt bad about the deceiving name but she was too young to name herself. Maybe a new building or paint job would generate more tourism. All the houses were bright, cheery colours, shouldn’t the airport match? Annelise tugged at her scarf again, habit. She had rushed here thinking she was late but the plane got delayed in Reykjavik. Hopefully there was nothing wrong, she didn’t want her precious visitors getting injured. Especially one in particular..
"The plane's coming now!" The only other person in the room, the travel agent, called out in Greenlandic from the window. Annelise hurried over to the window herself to watch the plane descend. Excitement bubbled up and she couldn't wait to see the people come out. The flight had come from Copenhagen, to Iceland, then to her. The travel agent made her way to the door to greet people but she was rooted at the window, waiting to catch the first glimpse of tourists. She didn't get many tourists in winter so she was more excited than ever. People didn't know what they were missing, she felt. The plane halted on the runway and the stairs were brought over. Now the anticipation was starting to kill her. "Hurry up already." She muttered quietly so the travel agent wouldn't hear her. That would be embarrassing, she thought as her cheeks began to darken. Finally the door opened and people began to file out. Then a very tall blond man exited the plane and caught her eye, waving to her cheerfully. She put a hand on the glass and smiled back. The times when Denmark came to visit were always the best. Maybe he could fix her scarf for her..
